A certified Alexander Technique teacher and a Doctor of Arts, Barbara Hudson has worked with educators, homemakers, business professionals, fine and performing artists, excercise instructors, mind/body practitioners, and persons of all walks of life to help them regain their natural coordination in their daily living. As a teacher, performers, scholar and lecturer, she has taught the technique privately and presented workshops on the integrated use of the body, mind, the breathing, mechanism, and the voice since 2002.
The Alexander Technique is a method of educating the body toward healthy and efficient use of the whole self. It uses verbal, visual, and hands-on skills to help students learn to recognize and change habits that interfere with daily movement/coordination. Practicing the technique daily optimizes physical strength, muscle tone, endurance, and flexibilty. For recuperation, relief and prevention, The Alexander Technique benefits people who suffer from neck, back, and hip pain, traumatic/repetitive stress injuries, chronic joint and muscle pain, and breathing and coordination problems.
